My Future Trip to Philadelphia

by

Student A.

(4)Traveling across the country, sojourners will find countless opportunities for adventure. From the amazing views and beaches of a tropical paradise to the sights and sounds of a bustling famous city, any trip, long or short, in the countryside or in the cities, can be very interesting and fun. (5)When the day turns to night, relax at a hotel and order some food. (M3-N)My future trip to Philadelphia would originate in Spring, TX, and stop at Ship Island, Mississippi, and then move on till I reach the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky, then after 24 hours of driving, I will finally stop at the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.

My first point of interest on this trip is Ship Island, in Mississippi. (S)Ship Island is a very famous, educational location in Mississippi known for playing an important role in the history and settlement of the Gulf Coast. It was dubbed “Ship Island” in 1699 by French explorers who were impressed with the protection and anchorage it offered their ships. The island later became an important port for French Louisiana. (2)In 1862 this island also served as a base from which David Farragut’s Union fleet sailed to attack and capture the New Orleans and Mobile ports. It also became a prison for Confederate P.O.W.s and a base for the 2nd Louisiana Native Guard Volunteers. A couple of things you can do at Ship Island are, explore the Gulfport Marina, catch a ferry ride, learn some history, take a refreshing swim, do some souvenir shopping, enjoy the wildlife, and, amazingly, experience a shop from 1955.

My second stop will be the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. The Daniel Boone National Forest, which was previously known as the Cumberland National Forest, is known for its breathtaking trails and wildlife. (D-sim)This forest is as beautiful as a perfect sunset on a gorgeous day. It contains over 600 miles of trails. (7)Tired, many travelers will stop at one of the 250 recreation sites that this National Forest offers. It spreads across 21 counties of Kentucky and manages over 780,000 acres of national forest system lands.  Some activities you can do at this forest are boating, swimming, canoeing, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, biking, and rock climbing.

(1)Because I will be ending in Philadelphia, my third and final stop will be the Liberty Bell. The Liberty Bell is famous because it is a very important symbol of American independence. It was used in the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall. You can read all about the facts and myths about the Liberty Bell, snag a selfie with Independence Hall, and if you arrive at the right time, do not miss the Once Upon a Nation story trail. (6)(3)Thankfully, everything is free!

This trip will be fun and interesting. (8)Excitement for the trip is building as the start date approaches. The points of interest including Ship Island, Daniel Boone National Forest, and the Liberty Bell will make this trip completely tailor-made for me. The most breathtaking part of this trip will be the Daniel Boone National Forest. Road trips can be very fun and fascinating, even if it is just from one city to another!

How to calculate the gas price:

  • Find how many miles per gallon your car gets.

  • Find how many miles to your destination.

  • Find the gas price in your starting location.

  • Divide the miles to your destination by how many miles per gallon your car gets.

  • This will show you how many gallons of gas you will need.

  • Multiply the gas price by how many gallons of gas you need to get the price.

  • Example: My car gets 17 miles per gallon of gas.

  • It is 432 miles from Spring, TX to Ship Island, MS.

  • The gas price in Spring is $3.78 per gallon.

  • 432 miles divided by 17 miles equals about 25.41 gallons.

  • 25.41 gallons times $3.78 equals about $96.o6.

My Future Road Trip to Philadelphia

by

Students A. & J.

If I were to plan a road trip to Philadelphia, I would probably stop at cool places along the way. There are many exciting things to do on a road trip. You can stop at cool or famous places, do fun things in the car, and visit friends. I would probably drive a dark blue Crosstrek Subaru Sport which has a reasonable milage of 34 mpg on the highway. Four places that I would stop on the way to Philadelphia are Mississippi State Fairgrounds, Stone Mountain Georgia, Skyline Dr Virginia, and the Independence Hall.

The first place that I would stop at would be the Mississippi State Fairgrounds. (1) Because the Mississippi State Fairgrounds are only open from Oct6-Oct17, I would plan my road trip between these days. This stop is seven and a half hours from my start, which is decent for the first drive. Then I would check into the Sheraton Flowood hotel and eat lunch. Next, I would drive to the fairgrounds and enjoy myself in this amazing place. After having a lot of fun, I would drive back to the hotel to sleep, and set to the road after eating hotel breakfast. This would be the end of the first day.

The second stop that I would make is Stone Mountain Georgia. Stone Mountain is six and a half hours away from my first hotel. It is one hour shorter than the last trip and the hotel is very close. I would leave at 7:00 am so that I have enough time to do a lot and still have a long sleep for the trip the next day. There are many fun and cool things to do at Stone Mountain. There is a huge park with many different delicious snacks and activities. On the website, there were pictures of many different things to do. After having fun at Stone Mountain, we would stop at our hotel and fall to sleep at 9:00 pm the latest. We would stay at the Stone Mountain Inn until the next morning. This would be the end of the second day.

The third stop would be Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park.  I would only spend a couple hours at the park and check into the hotel after leaving the park because the drive is 9 long hours. Skyline Drive is a long beautiful scenic route and Shenandoah National Park is along this drive. Shenandoah National Park is a park where you can just enjoy nature and everything with it. From wild animals to bright green trees, this park is filled with nature. After leaving the park, I would check into a hotel close by called Bee & Bee Mountain Retreat. This is the end of the third day.

After waking up in my hotel, I would start my four-hour drive to Independence Hall and stop at a few cool places there or along the way leaving room for improvisation. This drive would be short and quick, so I would have a lot of time to hang out. After having a lot of fun, I would cut out an hour from the end of my trip to reach my final destination, Blue Bell, PA. This would be the end of the fourth day, which would also be the end of the road trip.

Road trips can be long, but it is important to take in the special moments that you have with your family that you may never have again. The most significant part of my road trip is stopping at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds. I have not been to a place of this sort in a very long time, and I think I will enjoy it a lot. This is what I will do when I have my future road trip.

How to Calculate the Total Gas Cost: Take the total miles of your trip and divide it by the miles per gallon(mpg) to get the number of gallons you need for the trip. After that, you multiply the gallons of gas you need for the trip by the average gas cost to find out what your total estimated gas cost is for your road trip.

Example: Total Mileage - 1365 Miles Per Gallon - 33 Average Gas Cost - 3.79

(1365/33) x 3.79

(8) Freedom, happiness, and inspiration fill our hearts when we set our eyes on the earth. (4)Creating lasting memories and peaceful emotions, a road trip is very enjoyable for many people. (5)If I decided to do a road trip, I would definitely drive across the country. (M3-n)An adventure from Houston to Philadelphia. The three places are The Institute of Marine Mammal Studies, Rock City, and The Great Smokey Mountains.

My first stop would most definitely be The Institute of Marine Mammal Studies. It is a spectacular non profit animal rescue service located in Mississippi that utilizes the money from tourists to save animals in need. They provide camps, allow guests to pet their animals, and host birthday parties. It is only seven hours away, which is very reasonable for my first day of driving. (S) I would definitely leave home at 5:00 in the morning in order to arrive at the IMMS well before it closes. (7) Amazed by the wonderful animals, I would definitely swim with the dolphins and snorkel with the stingrays. I chose Navy Lodge as a place to stop because they have great reviews and a reasonable price. (1) Because I have always wanted to swim with exotic marine life, I would surely pick this place as my first stop.

Rock City is a perfect second destination that is only seven hours away from Navy Lodge. (6) Rock City is wonderful. (ALLITERATION) There are so many fun-filled festivities to enjoy there. I have never been to Tennessee, which is why I would do this with some friends to enjoy the picturesque views, spectacular tours, and delightful activities. I could even visit the Lookout Mountains for free. After a long day of walking, comfortable lodging is necessary. Because the Beartastic Lodge is so expensive, I would take some friends with me. (3) Unsurprisingly, Beartastic Lodge is a huge cabin that includes tricky trails and lovely lakes to fish in. I could even catch my dinner! This cabin has great reviews and comfortable beds. Rock City also has perfect reviews, and would be a very suitable choice for one of my stops.

After a perfect outdoor experience, an addition of three hours would not exhaust me. (2) At this point I would be by myself to view the vast expanse of God's flawless creation from the top of The Great Smoky Mountains. Also in Tennessee, this place is wonderful because it has hundreds of different animals, there is no tourist cost, and it is the most visited National Park in America. With more than 800 miles of hiking trails, perfect temperatures, and almost 1oo preserved historic structures, boredom would never become a problem. There is nothing better than enjoying a breathtaking view of God’s finest creations. After eight more hours of driving, I would reach my destination.

A relaxing trip with awesome activities, and superb scenery should be on everyone's bucket list. Taking a break from the stressful rigors of everyday life and adventuring into God’s unmatchable creation, is marvelous and awe-inspiring. Spending time with nature reduces stress, helps you improve your mood, and lessens your chance for psychiatric disorders. The most momentous characteristic about this trip is the chance to abide in God's magnificent creation.

How To Calculate Your Total Gas Cost

Find the mpg of your car

Find the miles of the trip

Find how much each gallon of gas costs

Divide the total miles of the trip by the mpg of the car

Multiply the result by how much each gallon costs

EXAMPLES:

Example 1:

Mpg of car = 30 mpg

Total miles of the trip = 1200 miles

Each gallon costs 4 dollars per gallon

1200 miles / 30 miles per gallon = 40 gallons

40 gallons * 4 dollars per gallon = 160 dollars

Example 2:

Mpg of car = 37.2 mpg

Total miles of the trip = 1477.7 miles

Each gallon costs 3.93 dollars per gallon

1477.7 miles / 37.2 miles per gallon = 39.72 gallons

39.72 gallons * 3.93 dollars per gallon = 156.10 dollars
