  1. a noun denoting an idea, quality, or state rather than a concrete object.

When writing a (8) OPENER sentence, be very sure to use the word AS A NOUN. Some of these words can be used as a different part of speech.

FOR EXAMPLE:
(8) Love will save the world.  <-- That "love" is an (8), an abstract noun.
Love your children, and take good care of them.   <---That "love" is a verb.

All About (8) -- ASSIGNMENT

 What is an abstract noun? An abstract noun is “a noun denoting something immaterial and abstract.” Another common way to think about abstract nouns is that they refer to things that you cannot experience with the five senses. You cannot see, smell, hear, taste, or touch abstract nouns.

Remember . . . our (8) OPENER is a sentence that begins with an abstract noun. There are other acceptable variations of an (8) --- but you may only use them if you indicate correctly.
